| Abstract: | This 65-page document is the result of extensive collaboration between the U.S. federal government, security experts, and industry leaders. It is meant to be a model for the nation in adopting secure network protocols. These include establishing points-of-contact, establishing an information sharing and analysis center, empowering CIO's to address cybersecurity, creating model user awareness programs, and establishing best practices. The document describes existing problems and proposed actions by the public and private sectors. Some of the more specific areas addressed include home and small business users, enterprises, government, higher education, and global activities. The plan is meant to be voluntary. Hhowever, if this strategy fails, the government could turn to regulations. |
