Abstract:The preservation of digital material has become a major challenge for libraries and publishers as the amount of digital materials increase and the preservation policies and methods for this format of information remain unformulated. This joint statement by IFLA and IPA was adopted by the IFLA/IPA Steering Group meeting in Paris on June 27, 2002. The statement outlines seven principles and recommendations to safeguard digital materials.
