| Author: | Gretchen Schlag |
| Abstract: | Minutes from a presentation at the CENDI meeting at Ft. Belvoir, VA on February 8, 2001. Ms. Schlag provides an overview of DTIC's history of information organization and the need to implement a knowledge management process to capture the tacit knowledge that resides with human experience. DoD is bringing together both the explicit and tacit knowledge components via a Defense Knowledge Network which will be grounded on interoperable, web-enabled portals. The scientific and technical knowledge domain will be managed by DTIC. The Science & Technology (S&T) Portal is currently under development and will provide a pilot and proof of concept for a single point of entry to diverse information resources. The portal will integrate DTIC's products, services, and information to respond to a user's question. Several specific portals have yet to be developed including one for customer relationship management (CRM) and communities of interest (COI). |
